Charlie Clifford tallied the Middlebury point on Wednesday with a five-game decision at #8.
The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell 8-1 in its regular-season finale at #9 Dartmouth on Wednesday.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Big Green secured victories at #6, #3 and also a marathon five-game decision at #7 to move into a 3-0 lead.
- Dartmouth triumphed in the fifth spot for its fourth point and clinched the match with a win in the second position to make it 5-0.
- A sweep at #4 pushed the Big Green lead to six.
- At the bottom spot of the ladder, Will Quigley dropped the first game but edged his opponent in game two before falling 3-1.
- The hosts increased their lead to 8-0 behind a win in the top slot.
- Charlie Clifford tallied the Middlebury point in the last match on the courts at #8. The Panther defeated his opponent in a back-and-forth five-game battle (11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-5) for the final 8-1 score.
NOTES
- The victory was Clifford's 10th this season.
Middlebury returns to competition on Saturday when it travels to Amherst for the NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers are the sixth seed in the single-elimination tournament and take on third-seeded/#13 Tufts in the quarterfinal round at 12:00 p.m.
