#17 Men’s Squash Falls To #16 Amherst 7-2

The 17th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell by a 7-2 score at #16 Amherst on Sunday afternoon.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Mammoths recorded victories at #7, #6, #3 and #9 to move into an early 4-0 lead.
  • The Panthers tallied their first point when Kian Kardestuncer swept his opponent in a trio of close games in the middle of the ladder (13-11, 11-8, 11-7).
  • Amherst clinched the match with a four-game triumph at #2 and took a 6-1 lead with a win in the eighth slot.
  • Middlebury recorded its second point of the match when Theo Kogan swept his opponent by the slimmest of margins at #4 (12-10, 11-9, 11-9).
  • The hosts tallied a victory in the top spot for the final 7-2 score.
NOTES
  • The triumph by Kardestuncer at #5 moves him into a second-place tie on the team with 10 victories (10-4) this season.
  • Will Quigley triumphed in the exhibition match, winning in five games (11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 4-11, 13-11).
The Panthers close out the regular-season portion of their schedule on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in a match at #9 Dartmouth.
