#13 Middlebury Falls To #12 Tufts In NESCAC Semifinal Tilt

Madeline Schwarz earned her team-leading 16th victory in today's contest.
The 13th-ranked/third-seeded Middlebury women's squash team fell to #12/second-seeded Tufts by a score of 8-1 in the semifinal round of the NESCAC Tournament on Sunday morning.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Madeline Schwarz opened the match with a sweep in the ninth spot (11-7, 11-8, 11-5) to give the Panthers a 1-0 edge.
  • The Jumbos responded with a four-game victory at #6 and a sweep at #3 to move into a 2-1 lead.
  • Tufts increased its advantage to 4-1 following a pair of back-and-forth wins in the seventh and fourth slots, respectively.
  • The Jumbos clinched the match with a triumph at the top of the ladder.
  • Margaux Comai battled in the fifth slot, taking her match to five games, but was unable to overcome her opponent as she fell 11-9, 6-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-3. 
  • Tufts added wins at #8 and #2 to secure the 8-1 triumph.
NOTES
  • M. Schwarz earned her team-leading 16th victory of the season during today's contest.
  • This was Middlebury's 13th appearance in the NESCAC Semifinals and first since 2020.
  • The programs played for the second time this season and the 38th overall with the Panthers owning a 28-10 advantage in the all-time series.
Middlebury will wait to learn its fate in the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships when the field is announced in the coming days.
