Panthers Ease Past Bowdoin 8-1 In NESCAC Quarterfinal Action

Holding tallied her 25th career win during the triumph.
The #13/third-seeded Middlebury women's squash team eased past #18/sixth-seeded Bowdoin 8-1 in NESCAC Quarterfinal action. With the win, the Panthers advance to the semifinals for the 13th time, and first since 2020. Middlebury takes on #12/second-seeded Tufts at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Madeline Schwarz (#9) and Maya Bardorf (#7) got things going for the Panthers with straight-game sweeps for the 2-0 edge.
  • Jumping out to a two-game lead was Margaux Comai in the fifth spot. She dropped the third game, but edged her opponent 11-7 in the fourth to increase the advantage to 3-0.
  • The Polar Bears cut the deficit to 3-1 with a three-game victory at #2.
  • Izzy Ronda made it 4-1 with a shutout in the third slot, before Mariana Reedich clinched the match with a sweep at #8.
  • Middlebury finished the contest strong, tallying a trio of three-game triumphs at #6 (Eva Finney), #4 (Abby Holding) and #1 (Lindsey Burnham) to secure the 8-1 win. 
NOTES
  • Holding earned her 25th career victory, improving to 10-4 on the year.
  • The Panthers and the Jumbos will compete for the 38th time in a series where Middlebury owns a commanding 28-9 record. Tufts has won each of the last three meetings, including an 8-1 triumph earlier this winter. The teams have not faced off in the NESCAC Semifinals before.
The winner of the 9:00 a.m. semifinal matches will compete for the conference crown at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
