#16 Women’s Squash Shuts Out Vassar In Home Opener

Abbie Peterson gave up just two points in her straight-games victory.

The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team secured a 9-0 sweep of Vassar on Saturday in its home-opening match from the Bostwick Family Squash Center.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Panthers earned seven of the nine victories in 3-0 triumphs while the other two came via forfeit.
  • Aanvi Anand, Madeline Schwartz and Mariana Reedich only dropped four points combined in their three-match victories from the #2,  #4 and #5 positions, respectively.
  • The bottom of the ladder excelled, as Caroline Didden (11-0, 11-2, 11-2) and Abbie Peterson (11-0, 11-2, 11-0) took home victories in the sixth and seventh spots.

NOTES

  • Reedich collected her 20th career victory while Abby Holding had her team-leading 29th triumph.
  • The win puts the program at 499 all-time victories.
  • Middlebury and Vassar battled for the 23rd time. The Panthers hold a 16-7 advantage and have won six straight over the Brewers.

Middlebury has a break for finals and the holidays before it resumes competition on Tuesday, January 7 against conference foe Hamilton.
