Audrey MacLean Earns Third USTFCCCA All-American Honor

Audrey MacLean raced to her second USTFCCCA All-American accolade in cross country.
Audrey MacLean of the #19 Middlebury women's cross country team concluded her season by earning United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-American accolades at last weekend's NCAA Championship. She became the 11th Panther to earn the honor twice for women's cross country and is the 41st overall in program history.

HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • The second kilometer of the race was where MacLean shined on the national stage, climbing 17 spots to situate herself just outside the top-10 spots in 11th. She remained nestled in the front pack until the 5K mark, before continuing to move up in the race. The finish area was a dash across the line where MacLean edged out several runners to grab sixth place with a clocking of 21:10.8.
  • She was the top finisher from the respective NESCAC individuals competing in the race.
  • This season, MacLean won the individual title at the conference championship and finished in third place during the NCAA Mideast Regional.
  • During the NESCAC Championship, she set a collegiate-best time of 20:21.2, lowering her previous record by 23.4 seconds.
  • The Panther was named the NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second-straight season and was tabbed as the conference's performer of the week honors twice this fall.
  • MacLean crossed the finish line with the winning time in three invitationals this season, leading the field to the line during the Aldrich Invitational, the Connecticut College Invitational and the league's meet. She placed in the top-six spots in every race that she participated during her second year.
  • The Panther earned USTFCCCA All-American honors last fall with a 10th-place finish at the national meet.
  • The national accolade is MacLean's third in the blue and white after garnering praises in the 3,000-meter steeplechase outdoors at the NCAA Championships last spring.
MacLean continues her athletic year in January when she competes as a member of the indoor track and field team.
