Women’s Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Open Weekend At #22 Amherst

Emma Hall swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team closed out the opening weekend of its season, falling at #22 Amherst by a score of 187-113. The Panthers tallied three individual victories and a relay win during Sunday's action. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the day's initial event, the 200-yard medley relay of Maddy Reid, Emma Hall, Chloe Bautista and Anna McGrew started things strong with a winning time of 1:49.38.
  • McGrew was a double-winner individually, leading the field to the wall during the 50 freestyle (24.15) and the 100 free (52.80).
  • A few events later, Isabel Pentony claimed the title in the 150 backstroke (1:36.14), while Reid finished as the runner-up (1:37.15).
  • Chloe Katz and Hall swam to a pair of second-place efforts. Katz posted runner-up times in the 300 individual medley (3:29.31) and the 300 free (3:03.79), while Hall tallied the second-quickest efforts during the 100 (1:08.48) and 150 breaststroke (1:48.19) events.
  • Other second-place clockings came from Hannah Baumgartner in the 150 free (1:26.56), Reid during the 100 backstroke (1:01.12) and Olivia Schwarz in the 100 individual medley (1:02.66).
  • Additional podium finishes were recorded by Grace Nadecki in the 300 individual medley (3:31.94), Lauren Jolley during the 100 back (1:01.25), Bautista in the 150 fly (1:34.97) and Schwarz while swimming the 100 free (55.58).
  • In the final event of the meet, the 400 free relay quartet of McGrew, Nadecki, Bautista and Baumgartner touched the wall in second with a clocking of 3:36.80.
NOTES
  • McGrew tallied four individual event triumphs this weekend, winning the 50 free and 100 free against Connecticut College and the Mammoths. 
The Panthers are idle next week before traveling to Ithaca for the three-day Bomber Invitational beginning on December 6.
