Men’s Swimming & Diving Competes At #23 Amherst

Owen White won the 1-meter event title on Sunday.
The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team concluded its first weekend of competition at #23 Amherst on Sunday, falling to the Mammoths 213-81.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers recorded a pair of wins on the diving board. Owen White claimed the 1-meter title with 219.67 points, while Henry Wang posted a winning total of 221.51 points in the 3-meter discipline.
  • Jack Undercofler posted a strong swim in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall as the runner-up with a clocking of 53.26.
  • A few events later, Samuel Hughes earned second place during the 150 back (1:24.05), just 0.05 seconds ahead of teammate Luke McNamara (1:24.10).
  • Middlebury tallied a pair of third-place showings during the relay events. The 200 medley team of Hughes, James Thomas, Jack Paul and Prin Chantarangkul raced to a time of 1:36.02, while the 400 free quartet consisting of Matthew Hensel, Chantarangkul, John Masiello and Hughes touched in 3:14.60.
  • Pierce Bigelow posted two individual top-three finishes, earning third place during the 150 freestyle (1:17.57) and the 300 free (2:50.10).
  • Additional podium clockings were recorded by Luke McNamara in the 300 individual medley (3:07.03), Chantarangkul during the 50 free (22.14) and Stefanos Salas while swimming the 100 individual medley (55.36).
NOTES
  • White secured his second diving event triumph on the weekend after winning the 1-meter title on Saturday.
The Panthers return to action on December 6 when they travel to Ithaca for the three-day Bomber Invitational.
