Panthers Open Season With 196-92 Triumph Over Camels

Bautista won two individual events and was on a winning relay.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team opened the season with a convincing 196-92 triumph over Connecticut College. The Panthers had nine individual victories, including three multi-winners. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • A trio of Middlebury swimmers claimed two individual events and a relay. Chloe Bautista touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (59.25) and the 200 fly (2:11.10). Emma Hall garnered first in both breaststroke events, recording a time of 1:07.37 in the 100 and 2:27.72 in the 200. Anna McGrew clocked in at 23.70 seconds to claim the 50 freestyle and 52.52 seconds for the 100 free crown in her rookie debut.
  • The Panthers teamed up with Maddy Reid in the 200 medley relay, stopping the clock in 1:48.18 to win the event.  
  • Reid was also victorious in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall with a time of 1:00.63.
  • Pai Easterbrook took top honors off both diving boards, tallying 180.23 points off the 1-meter and 178.88 during the 3-meter event.
  • Another double winner was Chloe Katz, claiming both the free (5:16.11) and the 1,000 free (10:39.76). 
  • Leading a group of four Panthers to the wall in the 200 freestyle was Hannah Baumgartner, clocking in at 1:57.30 to win the race.
  • Rounding out the first-place finishers was Isabel Pentony, taking the 200 back with a time of 2:11.16.
NOTES
  • This marked the fourth-straight victory over the Camels, and fourth-consecutive season-opening win.
Middlebury is back in action on Sunday, traveling to #22 Amherst for a 12:00 p.m. start.
