Madeline Schwarz secured her eighth consecutive victory dating back to last season.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team opened its 2024-25 campaign with two matches this weekend, sweeping Connecticut College (9-0) on Saturday, before falling to #2 Trinity (9-0).
HIGHLIGHTS VS. CONN COLLEGE
- The Panthers eased past the Camels with all nine victories coming in 3-0 sweeps.
- Madeline Schwarz pushed her winning streak dating back to last season to seven straight by shutting out Gwyneth Perez in the third spot (11-4, 11-6, 11-2).
- Aanvi Anand, Caroline Didden and Lucy Ronda all earned their first victories in a Middlebury uniform with 3-0 wins at #4, #7 and #8, respectively.
- Abby Holding tallied her team-leading 27th career triumph in an 11-2, 11-1, 11-6 decision over Isabel Schumacher at the two position.
HIGHLIGHTS VS. TRINITY
- The Bantams secured victories at #4, #8 and #2 to move ahead, 3-0.
- Trinity grabbed the fifth spot before clinching the match with a sweep at the ninth position.
- With victories at #1, #7 and #3, the hosts pushed their lead to 8-0.
- Mariana Reedich battled in the final match of the day from the #6 slot, but fell in three games to Fabiola Cabello.
NOTES
- The victory over the Camels puts the squad within three of securing 500 wins as a program.
- Middlebury and Connecticut College played for the 27th time and the first time since the 2021-22 season.
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday when they head to Geneva, NY to battle William Smith at 1:00 p.m.
