#23 Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fifth In Paul Short Run

Cameron Miles finished 181st during Saturday's race.
The #23 Middlebury men's cross country team posted a strong fifth-place finish during the highly-competitive Paul Short Run's White Race. SUNY Geneseo, ranked 18th, claimed first place with 75 points, while #6 New York University was second (89 points) and #19 Tufts completed the podium (114 points). Lynchburg, ranked #17 nationally, was fourth (149 points), while the Panthers rounded out the top-five teams (181 points).

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Placing fifth overall in a race featuring 373 runners, and first for Middlebury, was Drew Donahue with a time of 24:43.0.
  • Ziggy Goddard was just over 15 seconds behind, crossing the line at 24:58.7 to garner 13th overall. 
  • Middlebury's next competitor was Shef West with a clocking of 25:19.2 to garner 36th place.
  • Finishing 61st overall was Benjamin Hughes, racing across the line with a time of 25:42.6.
  • Rounding out Middlebury's scorers was Harry Griff with a time of 25:46.2 to earn 68th place.
NOTES
  • Donahue's time was his best effort since the 2021 NCAA Championships.
  • A contingent of Panthers competed in the open race to start the day, featuring all three NCAA divisions with no team scoring. Pacing the group was Raymond Pavlik, recording a 236th-place showing out of 588 racers with a time of 27:06.4.
  • The white race was comprised of numerous top-25 Division III squads among 41 programs.
Middlebury returns to action in two weeks when it competes at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, October 19. The meet will serve as the program's Senior Day.
