The Middlebury women's cross country program honored its senior class on Saturday.
Audrey MacLean claimed the individual title during Saturday's Blue Race, leading the #17 Middlebury women's cross country team to an eighth-place finish during the Connecticut College Invitational. The event featured an abundance of nationally-ranked programs. Winning the team crown was top-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with 83 points, while #7 New York University was second (101 points) and #16 Williams (106 points) rounded out the top-three teams. HIGHLIGHTS
- MacLean led the field of 277 runners to the finish line, winning the title by 15.8 seconds with a victorious time of 20:44.60. That clocking lowered her personal-best collegiate mark by 3.6 seconds.
- Parr was the next Panther to cross the finish line in 12th place (21:33.90).
- Shea Fajen recorded a 77th-place showing with a time of 22:41.70, while Ross was one spot back in 78th with a clocking of 22:41.90.
- Completing the scorers for the Panthers was Caroline VanSchaick in 89th (22:51.70).
- Victoria Fawcett (22:53.60) and MK Cestaro (22:57.70) also earned top-100 efforts in 91st and 95th, respectively.
NOTES
- In the Women's White 6K race, the Panthers concluded a fourth-place tie with 112 points. Stephanie Renouf led the way, finishing in 15th place with a clocking of 22:56.1.
- For the third-straight meet, Naomi Atwood set a personal-best time, crossing the line in 23:00.8, shaving nearly 45 seconds off her previous record.
- Josie Dolan (23:17.9), Naomi Gomel (23:28.7), Jules Davis (23:33.1), Amelia Gray (23:40.9) and Carpenter (24:37.9) also set personal record times during the white race.
The Panthers have a week off before running for a conference title in the NESCAC Championship on November 2 at Bowdoin.
