#16 Middlebury Tops #23 Franklin & Marshall 7-2

Eva Finney earned her 20th career win.
The #16 Middlebury women's squash team closed out a three-match homestand on Sunday, topping 23rd-ranked Franklin & Marshall 7-2.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In a match that lasted just 10 minutes, #9 Clementine Campbell swept her opponent (11-1, 11-1, 11-4) to give the Panthers a quick 1-0 edge.
  • Madeline Schwarz increased Middlebury's advantage, making it 2-0 with a straight-game victory (11-2, 11-2, 11-3) in the eighth slot.
  • In the third spot, Margaux Comai leveled the match at 1-1, but her opponent was able to win the next two, cutting the Diplomats' deficit down to one (2-1).
  • Maya Bardorf dropped tightly contested opening game (13-11) at #6, but battled back to claim three-straight games (11-5, 11-8, 11-6) for the 3-1 lead. 
  • The Panthers secured the match with a pair of 3-0, 19-minute triumphs by Mariana Reedich (#7) and Abby Holding (#4).
  • Franklin & Marshall picked up a 3-1 win in the third spot, but Eva Finney cruised to a 3-0 triumph (11-3, 11-6, 11-3) at #5 to make the score 6-2.
  • At the top of the ladder, Sabrina Schwarz eased to a 3-0 win (11-1, 11-8, 11-4) for the final 7-2 score.
NOTES
  • Finney's victory was the 20th in her career. 
  • Kieran Suntha eased to a 3-0 triumph (11-3, 11-1, 11-1) in the exhibition match.
  • Middlebury has won six of the last seven meetings against the Diplomats.  
The Panthers continue NESCAC play on Tuesday when they host #26 Hamilton at 4:00 p.m.
