Mariana Reedich earned a five-game victory at #7 on Friday.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team opened the home portion of its schedule with a hard-fought 7-2 loss to #15 Georgetown in the Bostwick Family Squash Center. The contest kicked off a busy weekend of home matches for the Panthers.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Hoyas raced out to a 5-0 lead with victories at #6, #3, #9, #2 and #4.
- Middlebury tallied its first point when Madeline Schwarz battled back after dropping the first game for a four-game triumph in the eighth slot of the ladder (8-11, 11-4, 12-10, 11-5).
- Georgetown mustered a five-game victory at #5 and a narrow four-game triumph in the top spot to take a 7-1 advantage.
- In the last match on court at #7, Panther Mariana Reedich battled Sydney Bramen during five hard-fought games, with Reedich posting an 11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-9 triumph for the final 7-2 score.
NOTES
- The wins by Schwarz and Reedich were their respective third victories in as many matches.
- The programs played for the fourth time with Middlebury owning a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series.
The Panthers continue their busy stretch of home matches on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. contest against #21 Dickinson.
