#20 Panthers Top Continentals, Fall to #6 Williams At Tri-Meet

Maxwell had a second place finish and two third place efforts.
The 20th-ranked Middlebury women's swimming and diving team topped host Hamilton 192-111, but fell to #6 Williams 193-100 on Saturday.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Isabel Pentony touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:00.14.
  • Also earning top honors in the pool was Emma Hall, recording the fastest time (1:07.55) in the 100 breaststroke. Fayanne Smith-Salzberg was right behind in second place with a time of 1:08.21.
  • The third event winner of the day was Chloe Katz, clocking in at 5:13.95 to claim the 500 freestyle. Katz was the runner-up in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:44.85.
  • Louise Hay tallied a pair of runner-up finishes, clocking in at 54.51 in the 100 free and tying with teammate Hannah Baumgartner (1:58.25) in the 200 free. 
  • The 200 freestyle relay quartet of Hay, Avery Maxwell, Chloe Bautista and Baumgartner finished in third place with a clocking of 1:41.06.
  • Off the 3-meter diving board, Pai Easterbrook placed third with 171.40 points.
  • Rounding out the third-place finishers were Maddy Reid in the 50 backstroke (28.07), Bautista in the 100 butterfly (59.49) and Maxwell in the 50 (25.23) and 100 (55.23) freestyle events. 
NOTES
  • Katz tallied her 10th individual victory of the season, winning the 500 free in each of the four meets she has competed in the event.
The Panthers close out the regular season next weekend, hosting the two-day Middlebury Invitational beginning on Friday.
