#15 Middlebury Posts 7-2 Victory Over Brown

Will Lichstein battled back from a 2-0 deficit at #2 for a five-game victory.
The 15th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team battled back from a 2-1 deficit, winning the final six points for a 7-2 victory over Brown. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Trailing 1-0, Theo Kogan recorded the first Panther point with a 3-1 triumph at #4 (6-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-6).
  • The Bears regained a one-point edge with a 53-minute, five-game win in the eighth slot.
  • Middlebury responded with six-consecutive victories to close out the match. Gabe Thin edged his opponent at #7 by scores of 12-10, 13-11, 11-3, while Caleb Boateng gave the Panthers the lead for good (3-2) with an 11-8, 7-11, 11-1, 11-9 win at the third spot.
  • Kian Kardestuncer tallied a sweep in the middle spot of the ladder (11-9, 11-3, 13-11), while PK Keller clinched the match behind a three-game triumph one spot below at #6 (11-6, 11-6, 11-4).
  • The last two points came from Charlie Clifford with a 3-0 decision in the ninth slot (11-3, 11-9, 13-11), while Will Lichstein rebounded after dropping the first two games for a marathon 67-minute win at #2 (2-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-7) for the final 7-2 tally. 
NOTES
  • The victory by Kardestuncer was the 20th of his career.
  • Thin posted his team-leading 10th win this winter.
  • With its win on Friday, the program improved to 10-2 overall and has recorded a double-digit win total for the 13th time in 16 seasons as a varsity sport.
  • The programs played for the 13th time with Middlebury holding a 9-4 advantage.
The Panthers remain on the road for a 1:30 p.m. match on Saturday at 19th-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
