Men’s Swimming and Diving Cruises Past Union 154-78

Christopher Pedersen was a part of three event victories on Saturday.
The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team won nine events against Union on Saturday, cruising to a 154-78 victory over the Garnet Chargers.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay quartet of Samuel Hughes, Christopher Pedersen, Andrew Dou and Matthew Hensel with a winning time of 1:36.86.
  • Pedersen also earned a pair of individual event victories during the freestyle events. He paced the field in the 50 free (21.97) and stopped the clock first in the 100 free (48.53).
  • Rodin McKenna led three Panthers to the wall in the 1,000 freestyle with a victorious time of 10:10.42, while Pierce Bigelow was crowned the champion in the 200 free (1:46.28).
  • Luke McNamara won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:55.60. 
  • Jack Undercofler was victorious during the 200 backstroke by nearly three seconds with a clocking of 1:57.42
  • Liam Smith claimed both the 1-meter (246.22 points) and the 3-meter diving events (251.48 points), while Owen White was second on the 3-meter board with 243.29 points.
  • In the last event of the meet, the 400 free relay team of Hughes, McKenna, Jason Chiappinelli and Riley Griffis swam to a winning time of 3:12.89.
The Panthers are back in action on January 27 when they compete in a tri-meet at Hamilton with Williams.
