#16 Panthers Edge #14 Williams 5-4 To Earn Seventh-Straight Victory

Madeline Schwarz improved to 10-0 with a 3-0 win.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team edged #14 Williams 5-4 to increase its winning streak to seven. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Ephs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with victories at #9, #5 and #2.
  • Madeline Schwarz put the Panthers on the board with a straight-game triumph at #8.
  • Knotted at one game apiece, Maya Bardorf claimed the final pair of games to earn a 3-1 victory in the sixth slot, bringing Middlebury within one (3-2).
  • Williams extended its advantage to 4-2 with a sweep in the third spot.
  • The Panthers' comeback bid began when Abby Holding won by retirement at #4. 
  • Trailing 2-1 in the seventh slot, Mariana Reedich dug deep, coming out on top 3-2 to knot the contest at 4-4.
  • The match came down to the battle at the top of the ladder. Lindsey Burnham fell in the opening game but came back to earn a 3-1 victory to secure the 5-4 Middlebury triumph.
NOTES
  • Reedich and M. Schwarz both remain unbeaten this season, improving their winning streaks to double digits (10-0). 
The Panthers celebrate Senior Day on Sunday with an 11:00 a.m. match against #17 William Smith.
