Margaux Comai tallied a three-game sweep at #3 on Sunday.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team posted its sixth-consecutive win, pulling away from #18 Bowdoin for a 7-2 victory on Sunday.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The Panthers grabbed the early 1-0 lead when Mariana Reedich breezed by her opponent at #7 (11-3, 11-5, 11-7).
- The Polar Bears evened the match at 1-1 with a lengthy five-game triumph in the middle of the ladder.
- Middlebury regained the lead with a sweep from Clementine Campbell at #9 (11-2, 11-6, 11-5), followed by a five-game triumph in the top spot by Sabrina Schwarz (11-6, 11-3, 7-11, 10-12, 11-3). Schwarz's contest was a 47-minute battle.
- Abby Holding gave the hosts a 4-1 advantage with a tightly-contested four-game victory in the fourth slot (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7).
- Madeline Schwarz provided the match-clinching point for the Panthers from the eighth spot. She dropped the first game but rebounded for a convincing 3-1 triumph (9-11, 11-3, 11-3, 11-2).
- Bowdoin moved to within three (5-2) behind a four-game victory at #2.
- The last two points were recorded by Margaux Comai with a three-game sweep at #3 (11-5, 11-6, 11-6), followed shortly after by a five-game victory in the sixth slot from Maya Bardorf (8-11, 12-10, 11-9, 5-11, 11-8) for the final 7-2 score.
NOTES
- Reedich and M. Schwarz both increased their individual winning streaks to nine to start their respective careers.
- Bardorf, Campbell and Holding all posted their sixth-straight victories.
- Kieran Suntha cruised in the exhibition match, cruising by scores of 11-7, 11-4, 11-4.
- The programs squared off for the 48th time with Middlebury holding a 27-21 advantage, having won 14 of the last 16 matchups.
After a busy stretch, the Panthers have some time away from competition before returning to the courts on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in a home match against Williams.
