#20 Men’s Squash Tallies Impressive 9-0 Sweep Over #25 Bates

Caleb Boateng earned a three-game sweep Saturday in the third spot.
The 20th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team got back to its winning ways on Saturday, dropping just seven combined games during a 9-0 sweep over #25 Bates.  
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Panthers raced out to a 2-0 advantage with a pair of three-game victories. Kian Kardestuncer breezed past his opponent in 16 minutes in the middle of the ladder (11-4, 11-5, 11-6), while Nathan Feinstein cruised at the #1 spot (11-8, 11-4, 11-3).
  • Gabe Thin continued his strong initial season, edging his opponent in five games at #7 (12-10, 6-11, 12-10, 2-11, 11-8) for a 3-0 Middlebury edge.
  • Will Lichstein increased the Panther lead to 4-0 with a three-game sweep in the second spot (11-5, 11-9, 11-4).
  • Theo Kogan clinched the match for Middlebury with a comeback win at #4. Dropping the first two games, Kogan edged his opponent in the final three games for the 3-2 win (8-11, 2-11, 11-8, 13-11, 12-10).
  • Charlie Clifford at #9 (11-2, 11-6, 11-3) and Caleb Boateng in the third position of the ladder (11-9, 11-2, 13-11) pushed the Panther advantage to 7-0.
  • The last two wins were recorded by Alex Stimpson in the eighth slot (7-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5) and PK Keller one spot above (11-9, 11-4, 8-11, 5-11, 11-3) for the final 9-0 score.
NOTES
  • Will Quigley secured an 11-2, 11-2, 11-3 sweep in the exhibition match.
  • Clifford remains unbeaten this season with an unblemished 6-0 record.
  • Stimpson, Feinstein and Kogan each posted their 15th career victories.
  • The programs played for the 27th time with Middlebury owning a 17-10 edge.
 The Panthers wrap up a three-match home weekend on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. when they host Bowdoin.
