16th-Ranked Women’s Squash Defeats #25 Mules 6-3

Abby Holding earned the match-clinching victory during tonight's win.
The #16 Middlebury women's squash team defeated #25 Colby 6-3 in the first of a trio of conference contests this weekend.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Mules opened the match with a victory at the top of the ladder.
  • Mariana Reedich (#7) and Eva Finney (#5) responded with 3-0 and 3-1 triumphs, respectively, giving the Panthers a 2-1 edge. 
  • At the bottom of the ladder, Clementine Campbell swept her opponent, relenting only three total points (11-1, 11-1, 11-1) in a match that lasted just 11 minutes to give Middlebury a 3-1 advantage.
  • In the eighth spot, Madeline Schwarz cruised to a 11-2, 11-2, 11-5 sweep to make it 4-1.
  • Abby Holding clinched the match for the Panthers, rallying past her opponent in four games (7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-2) at the fourth spot.
  • Colby answered with victories in the second and third slots, but Maya Bardorf closed the match with a three-game triumph (11-4, 11-5, 11-0) at #6 to give Middlebury the 6-3 win.
NOTES
  • Kieran Suntha eased to an 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 victory in the exhibition match.
  • Bardorf's victory was the 25th of her career.
  • Reedich and M. Schwarz each remain undefeated this season, boasting 7-0 marks.
  • The programs played for the 48th time with the Panthers possessing a 30-18 edge. Middlebury has won the last 16 meetings between the two squads.
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday when they host Bates at 3:00 p.m.
