#20 Men’s Squash Falls To #13 Colby 6-3

The Panthers fell by a 6-3 scoreline on Friday evening.
The 20th-ranked Middlebury men's squash team fell to 13th-ranked Colby 6-3 on Friday evening to kick off a weekend of NESCAC contests. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Mules jumped out to a 2-0 lead with triumphs in the first and second slots.
  • At #5, Kian Kardestuncer dropped his initial game (12-10), but battled back to claim three-straight wins (11-7, 12-10, 11-6) to cut the deficit in half (2-1).
  • Colby increased its advantage to 3-1 after claiming a tight 3-2 battle that lasted over an hour in the seventh spot.
  • Trailing 2-0 at #4, Theo Kogan edged his opponent 14-12 in the third game, but ultimately fell 11-7 as the Mules took a 4-1 lead.
  • Colby clinched the match with a close 3-2 win in the third slot, before increasing it's advantage to 6-1 with a 3-1 victory at #9.
  • Ahead 2-1 and 8-3 in the fourth game, PK Keller won by retirement in the sixth slot, making the score 6-2.
  • David Zhao closed the match with a hard-fought five-game victory (7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6) at #8 to make the final score 6-3.
NOTES
  • Charlie Clifford secured a 14-12, 11-9, 11-7 sweep in the exhibition match.
  • Zhao remains unbeaten this season with a 6-0 overall record.
The Panthers return to the courts on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. when they host Bates.
