#19 Men’s Cross Country Leads Division III, Places Sixth Overall At Paul Short Run

Harry Griff earned his second personal-best in as many races.
The 19th-ranked Middlebury men's cross country led all of Division III, finishing sixth overall in the Brown Race at the Paul Short Run. The race was comprised of squads representing all three NCAA divisions and had 409 runners. Central Connecticut State (DI) won the event with 94 points, while Shippensburg (DII) placed second (163 points), and George Washington (DI) rounded out the top three with 165 points.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Alec Gironda was the third-highest finisher in Division III, placing 12th with a time of 25:15.6. 
  • Benjamin Hughes was just behind in 13th place with a personal-best clocking of 25:19.3.
  • Next for the Panthers was Drew Donahue who crossed the finish line in 31st place with a time of 25:34.4.
  • Ziggy Goddard placed 47th with a time of 25:47.8.
  • Rounding out the scorers for Middlebury was Harry Griff who finished 143rd with a personal-best time (26:34.2).
NOTES
  • In the Open Men's 8K, Tucker Jakobe shaved nearly 30 seconds off his personal-best time, clocking in at 26:35.8. The Panther placed 144th out of 513 runners in the race. 
  • Griff's personal-best time was his second in as many weeks.
Middlebury returns to the trails when it takes part in the Connecticut College Invitational on October 14.
