Women’s Golf Finishes Sixth At George Phinney Classic

Tir claimed medalist honors for the second time in as many weeks.
The Middlebury women's golf team hosted the George Phinney Classic this weekend, placing sixth overall. Audrey Tir tied for medalist honors with a two-day score of 152 (80-72), before being edged in a one-hole playoff.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Birdies on the par-four sixth and 13th holes highlighted Tir's final round. She improved her opening-round score by eight strokes.
  • Morgan Lee finished in a tie for seventh place, carding a two-day score of 156 (80-76). 
  • Next for the Panthers was Mia Politano, posting a combined total of 167. Politano improved her first-round output by seven strokes, carding an 80 on Sunday.
  • Jacqueline Slinkard and Sophia Hwang rounded out the scorers for Middlebury with scores of 169 and 171, respectively.
NOTES
  • Tir's second-round score of 72 was the lowest mark of the day. The Panther earned medalist honors for the second time in as many weeks.
  • Piper Jordan led the Panthers' second squad, tying for 14th with a two-day score of 159.
 
Middlebury travels to Massachusetts next weekend for the Williams Fall Invitational.
