#3 Men’s Tennis Opens Season With Middlebury Invitational

Julian Wu claimed the "A" bracket title in singles competition.

The #3 Panther men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule by hosting the Middlebury Invitational. The tournament featured seven teams competing in singles and doubles action.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • In singles play, Julian Wu, Nathan Jackson and Joe Mairs each reached the final in their respective draws. Wu claimed the individual crown in the "A" bracket, while Jackson (3-1) and Mairs (3-1) both finished as the runner-up in their draws.
  • Neel Epstein, Noah Lewis, Nikky Kondamuri and Hugh Hentschel each recorded victories in the opening round of singles play.
  • In doubles, the duo of Wu and Lewis posted three triumphs to reach the final round in the "B" flight.
  • The tandem of Hentschel and Mairs picked up two wins to earn a place in the semifinals of the "A" bracket.

NOTES

  • Wu improves to 29-4 in singles play throughout his career.
  • Lewis and Kondamuri's victories were the first of their collegiate careers.
The Panthers return to the court on September 29 when they travel to Brunswick, Maine for the ITA Regional Championships.
