Five Individuals & Two Relay Squads Earn All-NESCAC Honors

Five individuals and two relay squads from the Middlebury men's track and field team earned All-NESCAC honors based on their performances at the championship meet on Saturday. The honor is earned by any individual or relay that finishes in the top-three spots of their respective events.
 
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • A pair of Panthers were crowned NESCAC Champions to earn the laurel. Dave Filias won the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 58.84m, and Peter Hansen claimed the title in the 400-meter hurdles with a clocking of 53.35. 
  • Middlebury had a pair of runner-up finishes at the meet. Dan Urchuk was second in the discus, launching the implement 42.86m. The 4x800 relay squad (Max Cluss, Zach Utz, Johnny LaFortune and Lachlan Bishop) clocked in at 7:54.58 to earn the laurels.
  • The 4x400 relay quartet of Hansen, Colin Breen, Luke Hayes and Isaiah Izzo Lizardi stopped the clock at 3:22.47 to place third.
  • In the longest event on the track, Alec Gironda finished in third place in the 10,000 with a time of 31:02.65.
  • Ziggy Goddard rounded out the third-place finishers, clocking in at 9:30.09 in the 3,000 steeplechase. 
Several Panthers will continue the season this weekend, traveling to Springfield for the Division III New England Championships.
