Filias and Hansen Compete on Final Day of NCAA Championships

Dave Filias and Peter Hansen of the Middlebury men's track and field team competed on the final day of the NCAA Championships. Filias took part in the hammer throw, while Hansen was a finalist in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a qualifying time during Thursday's preliminaries.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Filias finished in 15th place in the hammer with a toss of 55.74m on his final throw of the afternoon.
  • In the 400 hurdles final, Hansen crossed the finish line in sixth place with a season-best clocking of 53.24 to receive All-American status. 
NOTES
  • Hansen's All-American accolade in the 400 hurdles is his second in as many years, as he placed seventh at last season's NCAA Championships.
  • Lance Jensen won the 400 hurdles with a personal-best and facility-best time of 50.63. The top-three finishers in the event each bested the previous facility record.
  • Widener claimed the top two spots in the hammer throw. Alex Kristeller won the event with a throw of 63.64m, while Alden Littlefield finished as runner-up.
