Hansen Qualifies For 400-Meter Hurdles Final, Gironda Competes In 10,000

Alec Gironda competed in the 10,000-meter on Thursday night.

Peter Hansen and Alec Gironda of the Middlebury men's track and field team participated in the opening day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Thursday, May 25. The meet is being held at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex in Rochester, New York.

HIGHLIGHTS

In the 400-meter hurdles prelims, Hansen placed third in his heat, stopping the clock in 52.74, which was his season best.
The senior's time was the seventh fastest across three heats, securing a spot in the finals on Saturday, May 27.
During the final event of the night, Gironda finished 22nd in the 10,000, crossing the finish line in 30:21.88.

NOTES

SUNY Geneseo's Lance Jensen had the top time in the 400 hurdles prelims, recording a personal-best clocking of 51.73.
Alex Phillip of John Carroll successfully defended his national title in the 10,000, claiming the top spot with a time of 28:37.89.
