Women’s Golf Finishes Third At NESCAC Championship

Morgan Lee finished in a tie for fifth place in her first NESCAC Championship.
The Middlebury women's golf team had three players place in the top-10, helping the Panthers finish in  third at the NESCAC Championship. Amherst claimed the conference crown with a score of 609, Williams was the runner-up with a two-day showing of 612, and Middlebury rounded out the top-three (627 points).

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Katie Murphy had a tremendous second day of action, improving her opening round score by seven strokes. She finished with a 72 to place third with a two-day score of 151.
  • Finishing in a tie for fifth place was Audrey Tir and Morgan Lee with two-day scores of 154. Tir fired in scores of 76 and 78, while Lee's three birdies in her opening round propelled her to a top-five showing. 
  • Mia Politano was fourth for the Panthers, lowering her day-one score by eight strokes (88-80) to finish in a tie for 18th.
  • Elizabeth Kenter rounded out the Middlebury scorers, firing a two-day score of 174 (88-86) to move into a tie for 20th.
NOTES
  • Murphy's second-round score of 72 was the second-lowest round in the entire conference tournament. 
  • Williams' Caitlin Yturralde won the individual crown with a score of 145, including an even-par 71 in the second round.
  • The Mammoths won their second-consecutive NESCAC Championship.
The Panthers will await their fate in the NCAA Tournament when the field is selected this week.
