Middlebury's Lea Davison '05 has been selected for the
Vermont Sports Hall of Fame and will be inducted as a member of the 10th class on April 29.
Davison is a two-time cross country mountain bike Olympian, finishing in seventh place at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and 11th in the 2012 London Games. Her bid for a third Olympics in 2020 ended when the games were postponed for the pandemic. She retired from competition in early 2022 after a 20-year athletic career.
She has competed in seven World Championships, earning runner-up laurels in 2016 and bronze in 2014, while also claiming third overall in the 2-15 World Cup Series. Davison is an eight-time United States Champion and a two-time Elite Cross Country Champion.
"I am so thrilled to be inducted into the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame," said Davison. "I grew up in Vermont playing sports and went to college at Middlebury where I downhill ski raced and ran cross country. My Olympic dreams were born ski racing as a kid at the Cochran Ski Area, and these dreams were realized by training in Vermont. Vermont has shaped me into the athlete I am and undoubtedly contributed to my success. This is what makes this induction so meaningful to me."
While at Middlebury, Davison was a member of the cross country and alpine ski teams. In 2022, she finished 11th at the NCAA Skiing Championships.
In 2007, Davison co-founded Little Bellas, a non-profit, all-girls mentoring mountain bike program with her sister, Sabra.
