Women’s Golf Breaks Pair of School Records En Route to Third Place Finish at Martin and Wallace Invitational

Elizabeth Kenter was one of three Panthers to finish in the top-10 at the Martin and Wallace Invitational.
The Middlebury women's golf team shot a school-record 293 on Sunday to claim third place at the Martin and Wallace Invitational hosted by Cortland. The Panthers finished with a two-day score of 592, which was also a school record. Williams won the event with a combined score of 582, while Amherst earned second place with a total of 585.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Katie Murphy led the way for Middlebury, finishing in a tie for fourth place with a two-day score of 146. Murphy opened play with a 76, before shooting two-under-par 70 on Sunday.
  • Audrey Tir finished just one shot behind Murphy, firing a combined score of 147 (74-73) to place seventh overall. 
  • Elizabeth Kenter shot an even-par 72 on the first day of the invitational, followed by a 76 to finish in a tie for eighth place (148). 
  • Morgan Lee rounded out the scorers for the Panthers, posting a two-day score of 151 to finish tied for 11th. Lee bettered her day-one score (77) by three strokes to finish the weekend on a high note. 
NOTES
  • Murphy's 70 on Sunday was tied for the best round of the tournament. 
  • Today's event marked the first time this season that Middlebury had three scorers in the top-10.
  • The previous single-day (295) and two-day (594) school records were set at the 2021 NESCAC Qualifier. 
  • The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, April 22 when they travel to Amherst for the Jack Leaman Invitational.
