#5 Women’s Tennis Blanks Trinity In Spring Opener

The fifth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its season with a 9-0 victory over Trinity in the Nelson Recreation Center. The Panthers have won 25-straight season-opening matches.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury jumped out to a 3-0 advantage with a trio of victories in doubles action.
  • The top tandem of Amy Delman and Claudia Miller cruised to an 8-1 triumph, while Amanda Frank and Anna Lardner earned an 8-0 decision in the third spot.
  • The Panther duo of Gena Huang and Lulu Wu posted an 8-3 win in the second slot.
  • Wu pushed the advantage to 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #2, while Delman clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the top of the lineup.
  • Nathalie van der Reis (6-2, 6-2) and Brinlea La Barge (6-2, 6-1) increased the lead to 7-0 with a pair of straight-set sweeps at #4 and #6, respectively.
  • Huang (#5) and Miller (#3) closed out the match with identical 6-0, 6-3 victories. 
NOTES
  • Van der Reis won her sixth-straight singles match.
  • Middlebury and Trinity played for the 10th time in the all-time series, with the Panthers having won each match.
  • Middlebury has defeated Trinity by 9-0 scores in each of the last four matches.
