#6 Women’s Tennis Breezes Past Chapman 8-1

The sixth-ranked Middlebury women's tennis team kicked off spring break with an 8-1 victory at Chapman. With the win, the Panthers improve to 4-0. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury rolled through doubles action, completing a three-match sweep.
  • Amy Delman and Brinlea La Barge downed their opponents 8-2 in the second spot, followed by Sami Remis and Nina Farhat in the third slot (8-3). The top duo of Gena Huang and Lulu Wu eased to an 8-4 victory to put Middlebury up 3-0.
  • Huang carried the momentum into singles action, racing out to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #4.
  • Anna Lardner clinched the triumph with a straight-set win (6-3, 6-4) in the sixth slot. 
  • Tied 5-5 in the first set, Wu hung in and closed out the set 7-5, before topping her opponent 6-3 in the second set to increase the Middlebury advantage to 6-0.
  • La Barge made it 7-0 with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fifth spot.
  • At #3, Nathalie van der Reis edged her opponent 7-5 in the opening set, before cruising to a 6-3 victory.
  • Chapman grabbed its lone point of the day in a thrilling victory at the top of the lineup. Delman dropped her first set by a 6-3 score, but battled back in the middle set, forcing a super tiebreaker with a 7-5 victory. Aliyah Allyn edged Delman 10-7 to earn the triumph.  
NOTES
  • Wu won her seventh-straight match, while van der Reis claimed her ninth-consecutive win.  
 
The Panthers will play four matches over the next week, with three of those being played in California during spring break.
