Women’s Squash Travels to Williams For NESCAC Tournament

The Panthers begin the NESCAC Tournament on February 11 against Amherst.
The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team has earned the fifth seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament. The Panthers begin their quest for the conference crown when they face fourth-seeded Amherst on February 11 at 10:00 a.m. in quarterfinal action.
 
ABOUT MIDDLEBURY
  • Middlebury finished the regular season with a 10-5 overall record that included an eight-match winning streak during the middle of the year.
  • The Panthers have scored wins over seven ranked teams this season. 
  • In last year's tournament, Middlebury finished in seventh place by sweeping Hamilton 9-0.
  • The Panthers have made an appearance in all 15 NESCAC tournaments since its inception in 2007.
  • Middlebury is one of just five teams to make an appearance in the conference's championship match.
PANTHERS TO WATCH
  • Maya Bardorf has led the way for the Panthers this season, earning a 10-1 overall record which included an 8-0 mark at #8. 
  • In her first year, Abbie Peterson also recorded 10 wins. Peterson was impressive in the seventh spot, claiming seven wins in eight contests.
  • Margaux Comai has been a key player in the middle of the ladder for Middlebury, posting nine wins during her rookie campaign in the fourth slot. 
  • Lindsey Burnham played at the top of the ladder for the Panthers. Competing primarily at #1, Burnham was victorious seven times and tallied a win a spot below. 
ABOUT AMHERST
  • Amherst wrapped up its regular season with an 11-4 record, finishing one spot above Middlebury in the national rankings (#15).
  • The Mammoths have competed in every NESCAC tournament since 2007.
  • Last season, Amherst finished in fourth place, falling to Williams in a tightly-contested 5-4 match.
MAMMOTHS TO WATCH
  • Callie Delalio has led the way for Amherst this season. The junior dropped just one match all year en route to a 14-1 overall record.
  • Isabelle Tilney-Sandberg has solidified the middle of the ladder for the Mammoths. Playing in the fourth and fifth slots, she amassed a 12-2 record during the regular season.
  • Blair Englert scored nine wins throughout the season, including a three-match winning streak the close out the year.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Middlebury and Amherst have played each other 56 times dating back to the 1976-77 season.
  • The two squads met earlier this year, with the Mammoths edging the Panthers 5-4.
  • Middlebury owns a 35-21 record against Amherst, however the Mammoths have won the last two meetings.
  • The teams have faced each other seven times during NESCAC Tournament action, with the Panthers winning six of the seven contests.
