Panthers Compete on Day One of New England Championships

Max Cluss was a part of the DMR team that stopped the clock in 10:01.64 to finish in fourth place.
The Middlebury men's track and field team sits in eighth place after the first day of competition at the Division III New England Championships. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology leads the way with 32 points, while Williams (28 points) and Bates (20 points) round out the top three.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • After one day of action, Quinn Kennedy sits in fifth place in the heptathlon with a score of 2,517 points.
  • Aidan Castanon will compete in the 60-meter dash finals tomorrow, after qualifying today with an eighth place time of 7.01.
  • In the distance medley relay (DMR), the squad of Zach Utz, Peter Hansen, Lachlan Bishop and Max Cluss stopped the clock in 10:01.64 to finish in fourth.
  • Zander Kessler placed ninth in the 5,000, crossing the finish line in 14:39.46
  • Henry Ericson finished in a tie for 13th in the pole vault with a jump of 4.19 meters, while Dave Filias placed 12th in the weight throw with a toss of 15.46 meters.
NOTES
  • The top-four teams in the DMR each broke the previous New England meet record of 1:03.40.
 The Panthers will continue action tomorrow at 9:00 a.m with the high jump event.
