Pair of School Records Fall On Day Two of NESCACs

The 400-yard medley relay smashed the school record on Friday night.
The Middlebury men's swimming and diving saw a pair of school records fall on the second day of the NESCAC Championship. Riley Griffis and the 400-yard medley relay broke program marks, while Jason Rickenbacher earned All-NESCAC honors off the 1-meter board. The Panthers sit in eighth place with 355 points, while #5 Williams leads after two days with 759.5 points. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Griffis set a school record in the 500-yard freestyle during the morning session, clocking in with an NCAA "B" cut time of 4:30.47. He followed up that performance with a new program record in the night session, touching the wall in 4:28.50 to earn fourth place.
  • Rickenbacher tallied a score of 405.80 points off the 1-meter board, finishing in third place to earn all-conference honors. Ryan Greguski also qualified for the finals, placing seventh with 366.45 points.
  • In the final event of the evening, the 400 medley relay set a school record. Jack Undercofler, Paul Shen, Griffis and Samuel Hughes finished in seventh place with a time of 3:20.15. The previous mark of 3:23.57 stood since 2011.
  • Undercofler placed seventh in the finals of the 50 backstroke, stopping the clock in 23.30.
  • The 200 free relay quartet of Aidan McKenrick, Christopher Pedersen, Andrew Dou and Hughes started the evening session with a ninth-place finish, clocking in at 1:23.91.
  • Nathan Stellmach recorded a personal-best time of 26.28 in the 50 breaststroke during the prelims.
 
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday morning with preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m.
