Women’s Squash Falls 6-3 to Amherst in NESCAC Quarterfinals

Eva Finney earned a 3-1 victory at #5.
The fifth-seeded Middlebury women's squash team cut into fourth-seeded Amherst's early 3-0 lead, but could not overcome the deficit as the Mammoths prevailed 6-3 in NESCAC Quarterfinal action. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Mammoths jumped out to a 3-0 lead with sweeps at #6, #4 and #2.
  • Middlebury battled back, with Maya Bardorf claiming a 3-1 (11-5, 11-2, 12-10, 11-8) victory in the seventh slot.
  • Amherst took a 4-1 lead with a point at #8. 
  • In the fifth spot, Panther Eva Finney cut the deficit to 4-2 with a 3-1 (11-8, 11-8, 1-11, 11-7) triumph.
  • Amherst clinched the win with points at #1 and #3, making it 6-2.
  • Grace Santoro tallied the final point of the match, sweeping her opponent 3-0 (6, 2, 7) in the ninth spot for the 6-3 final score. 
NOTES
  • Bardorf improved to 11-1 with her victory at #7. 
  • The Panthers made their 15th appearance in the NESCAC Tournament.
  • Today's contest was the 57th all-time meeting between the programs.
 Amherst will compete on Sunday against top-seeded Trinity in the semifinals, while the Panthers will await to learn their fate in the CSA Championships when the field is announced next week.
