Caddeau Earns All-NESCAC; Panthers Fifth After Day Two At NESCAC Championships

Isabella Caddeau earned All-NESCAC honors with her third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team sits in fifth place out of 11 teams following the first full day of competition at the NESCAC Championships. Tufts maintains its lead with 815.5 points, followed by Williams (668) and Amherst (486) while the Panthers are fifth (429.5). 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Isabella Caddeau highlighted the night with a third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 26.43. Teammate Maddy Reid also recorded a solid finish in the event final, touching the wall in seventh place (26.86). 
  • In the final event of the evening, the 400 medley relay quartet of Reid, Emma Hall, Elise Scott and Hannah Baumgartner posted a sixth-place effort with an NCAA B cut time of 3:51.30.
  • The first event saw the 200 freestyle relay team of Baumgartner, Caddeau, Scott and Lily Siemasko finish in ninth place with a time of 1:36.70.
  • Zoe Tray followed by touching the wall with an eighth-place mark and a personal-best time of 29.64 in the 50 breaststroke. Also earning points for the Panthers in the event were Bella Barragate (16th, 30.60) and Hall (19th, 30.95).
  • During the 50 butterfly, Caddeau raced to the wall with a sixth-place finish (25.75), while Asa Stone tallied a personal-best time and was 11th (25.93) just ahead of Scott in 15th (26.19).
  • Chloe Katz finished 12th in the 500 free (5:06.68), while teammate Louise Hay was two spots behind in 14th (5:09.76).
  • On the diving boards, Lia Smith dove to a 12th-place finish with 380.90 points. Giulia Shaughnessy garnered championship points with a 17th-place showing with 285.60 points.
  • Baumgartner was tied for 12th in the 200 individual medley (2:08.89), while Scott stopped the clock in 15th (2:09.97).
NOTES
  • Caddeau, Hay, Avery Maxwell and Katz each swam season-best times in the morning preliminaries. Caddeau posted her best time in the 50 fly (25.72), while Hay (5:07.82), Maxwell (5:13.69) and Katz (5:02.08) each recorded a season-low time in the 500 free.
 The Panthers return to action on Saturday with the morning preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m.
