The 16th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team earned victories over Wesleyan (8-1) and Vassar (7-0) to start the season.
HIGHLIGHTS VS. WESLEYAN
- Middlebury eased past Wesleyan 8-1, with seven of its wins coming in 3-0 sweeps.
- Maya Bardorf earned her 20th career with (11-4, 11-5, 11-4), blanking Laila Kewalramani in the sixth spot.
- Rookies Sabrina Schwarz, Madeline Schwarz and Mariana Reedich each tallied their first career victories with 3-0 wins at #2, #7 and #8.
- Clementine Campbell also grabbed her initial triumph as a Panther with a 3-1 (11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 2-11) win in the ninth spot.
HIGHLIGHTS VS. VASSAR
- Vassar only had seven players, of which the Panthers swept each of them.
- At #6, Reedich collected her second win of the day, limiting her opponent to the least amount of points (11-1, 11-0, 11-1) in the match.
- Ronda (#1), Comai (#3), Bardorf (#4), and M. Schwarz (#5) each claimed their second victories of the day with shutouts.
- Eva Finney was triumphant in the second spot (3, 0, 2), while Annabel Pick earned her first win (2, 0, 3) of the season at #7.
NOTES
- Middlebury won its 40th match against Wesleyan, owning a 40-7 mark over the 48-year history.
- The Panthers claimed their fifth-straight win over Vassar, improving to 15-7 overall.
Middlebury is idle until the new year when it hosts Georgetown, Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall January 5-7, 2024.
