Emma Hall was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team opened the season with a 154-140 triumph over Connecticut College. The Panthers had nine individual victories, including three multi-winners.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Chloe Katz picked up where she left off from a year ago, winning a pair of freestyle events. The Panther clocked in at 5:13.08, nearly 10 seconds ahead of the next competitor, in the 500-yard free and touched the wall in 10:36.03 in the 1,000 free to earn first place.
- First-year Fayanne Smith-Salzberg made a splash, claiming victory in two events. Smith-Salzberg stopped the clock in 1:09.14 in the 100 breaststroke, edging her opponent by just .03 of a second. The Panther earned top-honors in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:15.52.
- Rounding out the multi-winners was Chloe Bautista who also made her debut in navy and white. The Panther won both the 100 (59.12) and 200 (2:12.00) butterfly events.
- Off the 3-meter diving board, Pai Easterbrook was victorious, claiming the event with 187.80 points.
- Hannah Baumgartner touched the wall first in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:59.11.
- Emma Hall claimed the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:28.02.
NOTES
- This marked the third-straight victory over the Camels, and third-consecutive season-opening win.
The Panthers are idle next week, before traveling to Ithaca for the three-day Bomber Invitational beginning on December 1.
