Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pair of Late Goals Deadlock #7 Middlebury and Vassar 2-2

Each team scored once with less than 12 minutes to go in the contest, as the seventh-ranked Middlebury men's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw on the road at Vassar. The Panthers remain unbeaten on the season, extending their streak to nine-straight games.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Middlebury struck first with only 12:51 elapsed. Gavin Randolph dribbled past his defender on the right side and whipped in a low cross toward Jordan Saint-Louis. Saint-Louis attacked the cross, pressuring the defender into the ball which trickled into the net to give the visitors a 1-0 edge.
  • The Panthers looked to double their lead at the 20:30 mark. Saint-Louis slipped a through ball to Randolph, but his close-range bid was denied by the legs of Brewers' goalie Vasilis Ganasoulis.
  • With 17:22 remaining in the first half, Vassar nearly equalized. Jackson Hall collected the ball on the right side and zipped a pass into the 18-yard box which found Jared Fiske, but Fiske's shot fizzed just wide of the upper-right corner.
  • The Brewers were on the front foot to begin the second half. After only 23 seconds, a loose ball fell to Fiske in the center of the box. He looked certain to score, but Panther goalie Ryan Grady closed him down and sprawled to save the one-on-one effort.
  • At the 58:38 mark, the Brewers leveled the score at 1-1. Owen Fauth clipped a corner kick into the box and Duncan Keker rose highest, heading his shot into the top-right corner to tie the score.
  • The Panthers regained their lead with 11:42 remaining in the contest. Alem Muris Hadzic pounced on a bouncing ball and played Saint-Louis who broke away down the field and forced Ganasoulis off his line. Saint-Louis then cut it back to Hadzic who tapped the ball into the empty net for a 2-1 advantage.
  • Vassar knotted the contest at 2-2 with just over four minutes to play. Following a corner from Fauth, Berry flicked a header that snuck inside the right post to even the game for the second time.
NOTES
  • This evening's contest marks the first time that the two programs have played.
  • Saint-Louis has tallied at least one point in each of the last five matches and in seven of nine matches this season.
Middlebury returns to NESCAC action on Saturday when it takes on Colby at 2:00 p.m.
