Women’s Swimming & Diving Tops Colby 159-141

Louise Hay won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:17.44.
The Middlebury women's swimming and diving team topped Colby 159-141 in dual-meet action. Hannah Baumgartner and Elise Scott led the way with a pair of first-place finishes. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Baumgartner stopped the clock in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.80) and the 100 individual medley (1:00.82).
  • Scott claimed top honors in the 100 butterfly (58.95), while Isabel Pentony was victorious in the 100 backstroke (59.65). Both Panthers were the only competitors to go sub-60 in their respective events. Scott also won the 50 fly, clocking in at 26.86. 
  • Louise Hay earned first in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:17.44. 
  • In the longest event of the day (1,000 free), Chloe Katz claimed the crown with a time of 10:51.21.
  • Maddy Reid won the 50 backstroke with a clocking of 27.91.
  • A pair of relay squads earned runner-up honors. The 200 medley quartet of Baumgartner, Emma Hall, Reid and Scott clocked in at 1:49.04. Baumgartner teamed up with Hay, Lily Siemasko and Julianna Haensly in the 200 free relay (1:41.51).
  • Off the diving boards, Lia Smith claimed runner-up honors, tallying 219.30 points off the 3-meter.
  • Also earning second place was Avery Maxwell in the 200 free (1:59.56), Hall in the 50 breaststroke (31.25), Asa Stone in the 100 fly (1:00.38), Reid in the 100 back (1:00.34) and Zoe Tray in the 100 breast (1:08.28). 
NOTES
  • The Panthers continue NESCAC competition on Sunday, traveling to #23 Bates for an 11:00 a.m. start.
