Kennedy Wins Heptathlon, Motroni Breaks Own School Record

Quinn Kennedy won the 60m hurdles en route to the heptathlon crown.
The Panther men's track and field team had a banner weekend at the Middlebury Classic, spanning Friday and Saturday. Quinn Kennedy headlined the meet claiming the heptathlon, while Marco Motroni broke his own school record in the 60-meter dash.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Kennedy won four of the seven events to claim the heptathlon crown, totaling 4,188 points. He was first in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 1,000m and the shot put. 
  • For the second-straight week, Motroni broke the school record in the 60m dash. Just seven days ago, Motroni stopped the clock in exactly 7.00 seconds to write his name in the record books. Today, he won the event with a clocking of 6.95.
  • Peter Hansen and Zander Kessler also won their respective events. Hansen crossed the finish line first in the 500m (1:07.28), while Kessler earned the crown in the 800m (1:59.79). 
  • Runner-up finishes came from Jefferson Hill in the 60m hurdles (8.71 seconds), Richard Clark in the 200m (23.11) and Luke Hayes in the 400m (53.97). 
  • The 4x400 quartet of Hansen, Daryl Edwards, Xander Swann and Lachlan Bishop combined for a second-place finish (3:27.56).
  • Dave Filias finished third in the weight throw with a lob of 49'1.75", while Owen Johnson earned the same place in the 3,000m (8:41.14). 
NOTES
  • Filias' toss was a personal best, improving by four feet. 
  • This weekend's meet was a non-team scoring event.
