#17 Women’s Squash Rushes Past #22 Bates 7-2

Izzy Ronda scored the clinching victory in the 7-2 win over Bates.
The #17 ranked Middlebury women's squash team closed the weekend with a 7-2 win over #22 Bates. The Panthers extended their winning-streak to six straight, including a trio of NESCAC triumphs this weekend.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Bobcats opened the day with a victory in the #2 slot.
  • Abbie Peterson knotted the match with a sweep in the seventh spot (11-3, 11-5, 11-7).
  • Trailing 1-0, Margaux Comai responded by winning the next three (6-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-4) to give the Panthers a 2-1 lead.
  • Kieran Suntha cruised to a three-game win at #9 (11-2, 11-3, 11-7) and Caroline Arena picked up a triumph in the sixth slot (11-9, 11-5, 11-6) to increase Middlebury's advantage to 4-1.
  • Izzy Ronda clinched the match for the Panthers, securing a four-game victory in the third spot (11-7, 11-6, 10-12, 11-5). 
  • At #8, Maya Bardorf earned a three-game win (11-7, 15-13, 11-9) to give Middlebury a 6-1 edge.
  • Bates picked up a five-game triumph in the middle of the ladder to make the score 6-2.
  • Lindsey Burnham ended the weekend on a high, claiming a five-game win at the top of the ladder(11-7, 11-13, 6-11, 11-9, 11-5) to give Middlebury the 7-2 final score.
NOTES
  • Bardorf tallied three wins on the weekend to move to 6-0 for the season, as well as pick up her 10th career victory.
  • Peterson earned her sixth-straight win and moved to 8-2 overall.
  • Middlebury and Bates played for the 51st time with the Panthers owning a 35-16 advantage following the win.
