The 23rd-ranked Middlebury men's squash team was defeated by #14 Bates 7-2 on Sunday afternoon. 

• Julian Sandoval started things off with a sweep in the seventh spot (11-9, 11-7, 11-4).
• Bates leveled the match at 1-1 following a four-game victory in the second slot.
• The Bobcats rattled off four-consecutive triumphs at #4, #9, #3 and #1, respectively, to take a 5-1 advantage.
• Bates made the score 6-1 after claiming a victory at #6.
• Alexis Ballo recorded a five-game triumph in the eighth slot (11-6, 11-2, 5-11, 9-11, 11-2) to cut the deficit to 6-2.
• The Bobcats ended the day with a win in the fifth spot to secure the 7-2 win.  

• In the exhibition match, Alex Stimpson came back from two games down to secure a five-game victory (6-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-7).
• Ballo picked up his ninth win of the season on Sunday.
• The Panthers will return home to host Brown on Wednesday, January 18.
