#17 Women’s Squash Pulls Away From #20 Colby

Abbie Peterson picked up a 3-1 victory at #6.
The 17th-ranked Middlebury women's squash team continued its winning ways on Saturday, tallying a 7-2 victory at #20 Colby. The win for the Panthers was the fifth in a row.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Margaux Comai started things with a sweep in the fourth spot (11-5, 14-12, 11-9).
  • The Mules knotted the match at 1-1 with a four-game victory in the second slot.
  • Middlebury rattled off four-consecutive victories. Abbie Peterson and her opponent split the first two games, before the Panther claimed wins in games three and four to secure a point at #7 (11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7).
  • Izzy Ronda and Kieran Suntha increased Middlebury's lead to 4-1 without dropping a game. Ronda won at #3 (11-4, 11-6, 11-4), while Suntha earned a win at the bottom of the ladder (11-4, 11-9, 11-7).
  • Caroline Arena clinched the match for the Panthers, battling back from a 2-0 deficit in the sixth spot. She rebounded with narrow 12-10, 11-6 and 12-10 triumphs to outlast her opponent in five games. 
  • Colby claimed its second point with a 3-0 win in the top spot.
  • The Panthers posted 3-0 victories in the last two matches. Maya Bardorf was victorious at #8 (11-6, 11-4, 11-3), while Eva Finney completed the scoring at #5 with an 11-3, 11-7, 11-5 triumph for the final 7-2 score 
NOTES
  • Bardorf and Finney improved to 5-0 for the season with their respective victories on Saturday.
  • Peterson picked up her fifth-straight win and moved to 7-2 overall.
  • Middlebury earned its 15th-straight win over Colby and improved to 29-18 all-time against the Mules.
