Men’s Swimming and Diving Eases Past Bowdoin 171-128

The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team earned a 171-128 victory over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers picked up their second home win of the season.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Luke McNamara touched the wall first during both the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:01.72) and the 200 butterfly (1:54.72) events, respectively.
  • Riley Griffis also took home two first-place finishes in the 100 free (47.15) and the 200 free (1:41.27). 
  • Samuel Hughes stopped the clock at 1:54.21 in the 200 backstroke, over five seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
  • In the 500 free, Will Sonne secured the top spot with a time of 4:50.89.
  • Andrew Dou and Jack Undercofler placed first and second in the 100 butterfly and were separated by just one-tenth of a second. Dou took the win with a time of 52.53.
  • Off the diving boards, Ryan Greguski finished first in the 3-meter event with a score of 238.58 points. Jason Rickenbacher finished as runner-up in both the 1-meter (238.88 points) and 3-meter (236.03 points) events.
  • The quartet of Aidan McKenrick, Dou, Christopher Pedersen and Griffis finished first in the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 1:26.33.
NOTES
  • The Panthers will be back in the Middlebury Natatorium on January 21 when they host a tri-meet with Williams and Hamilton.
