Alpine Kicks Off Bates Carnival With Giant Slalom

Alexandra Cossette paced the Panthers with a 12th-place finish.
The Middlebury alpine ski team kicked off the Bates Carnival, racing in the giant slalom (GS) at Sunday River. The Panthers close out the first weekend of competition with the slalom on Friday.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Alexandra Cossette was the first finisher for the women, placing 12th with a two-run time of 2:10.68.
  • Just one spot back was Sophia Tozzi, posting a combined time of 2:10.86.
  • Emma Hall followed closely, finishing in 15th (2:11.15).
  • On the men's side, Michel Macedo placed 15th out of 45 competitors, posting a two-run clocking of 2:05.94. 
NOTES
  • The women led the way with 83 points.
  • The Panthers sit in eighth place out of 14 teams, combining for 111 points in the first discipline. 
  • Dartmouth paces the field with 226 points, claiming the top spot in both the men's and women's GS. 
 
The nordic team begins competition on Friday with the 15K classic and rounds out the weekend with the 10K skate on Saturday.
