The third-ranked Middlebury men's tennis team kicked off the fall portion of its season by hosting the seven-team Middlebury Invitational. Four singles and two doubles brackets were contested over the two-day span. 

HIGHLIGHTS

• Julian Wu picked up his first collegiate wins in the B singles bracket. Second-seeded Wu defeated his two opponents in straight sets by scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-0, before falling in a third-set superbreaker to the eventual champion.
• Zihao Yuan also earned a victory in the same bracket, posting a 6-4, 6-2 triumph before losing in the quarterfinals.
• In the A doubles bracket, the pair of Wu and Yuan recorded an 8-5 triumph in their first match.

NOTES

• Yuan improves to 22-7 in singles action with his victory during the invitational.
• Four members of the team who were in the lineup last season are studying abroad this fall.
