The third-ranked Middlebury men’s tennis team begins the fall portion of its 2022-23 season on Saturday, September 24. Last year, the Panthers claimed the program’s 10th NESCAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals for the 12th time. The team eclipsed the 20-win plateau (21-3) for the seventh time in the last eight years it has competed.

Aidan Harris, Noah Laber, Zihao Yuan and Neel Epstein all return to the lineup for Middlebury which saw an NCAA Singles champion, ITA Cup victor and two All-Americans graduate.

Harris played most of the time at the #2 spot, earning All-American and second-team All-NESCAC honors in singles. Harris teamed up with Laber as a doubles partner in the second slot, as the duo combined to go 24-10. The pair tallied All-American laurels, second-team All-NESCAC accolades, won the ITA Regional doubles crown and played in the ITA Cup Quarterfinals. Laber also earned second-team all-conference laurels in singles action.

Yuan solidified the bottom of the lineup for Middlebury, tallying an impressive 21-6 mark and a perfect 9-0 record during NESCAC action. In the spring, Yuan had his 17-match winning streak snapped in the national semifinals. Epstein had a solid first year, posting an 8-2 record against NESCAC opponents last spring.
